Intra-Company Transfer (ICT) Start-Up Work Permit


  • Open a branch in Canada
  • Have a business running for at least 2-3 years
  • Demonstrate sales and profits
  • No minimum investment but must prove ability to pay the operating costs in Canada for years 1-2
  • Time: ~ 6 months
  • 1 year work permit

Significant Benefit Work Permit


  • Open a business with unique services or product that will generate significant economic, cultural and/or social benefits to Canada
  • Show previous experience in this field
  • No minimum investment but must prove ability to pay the operating costs in Canada for years 1-2
  • 50% ownership
  • Time: ~ 6 months
  • 2 years work permit

Start-Up Visa – Permanent Residence and Work Permit


  • Mostly for innovative tech companies
  • Up to 5 co-founders
  • Receive support of a Canadian investor
  • Time: ~ 1.5 year to permanent residence but can obtain a work permit to start the business in Canada while the permanent residence application is being processes

Owner Operator LMIA Work Permit


  • Can buy an existing business, new business or franchise
  • Business must be running for at least 1 year before starting the application
  • No minimum investment but must prove ability to pay for the operating costs in Canada for years 1-2
  • 50.1% ownership
  • Time: ~ 6 months
  • 2 years work permit

Self-Employed Artists or Sport People


  • 2 years of self-employed experience during the past 5 years – or
  • 2 years participating at a world-class level in cultural activities – or
  • 1 year of self-employment + 1 year of working at a cultural world-class level.
  • Be able to establish a business that will, at a minimum, create an employment opportunity for yourself and that will make a significant contribution to cultural activities in Canada.
  • Time: ~ 2-3 years

Ontario Provincial Nominee Program Work Permit


  • Minimum Investment: $200,000 CAD
  • Minimum Net Worth: $400,000 CAD
  • You first need to present your business concept to the province
  • Then you need to wait to see if your business concept and profile will be selected
  • Once selected, we will submit a complete application to the province
  • Interview
  • Come to Canada and manage your business for at least 18 months before applying for permanent residence
  • 33.33% ownership
  • Time: 6-12 months - depends on when you will be selected
  • 2 years work permit

British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program Work Permit – Base Category


  • Minimum Investment: $200,000 CAD
